Olympic gold medalist runner LaShawn Merritt will be the guest speaker Saturday at the annual PHAT Conference: Promoting Healthy Teens.

The conference, in its third year, will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Blair Middle School in Norfolk, a news release says.

The goal of the free conference is to promote healthy lifestyles for youth, fitness and nutrition, the release says. The topics discussed during the conference will include bullying, stress and time management, healthy eating, healthy relationships and dating, teen pregnancy and prevention and others.

Workshops will be held for middle and high school students and parents.

The PHAT conference was developed by teen groups in the Norfolk chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority along with Jack and Jill of America.

The event also will feature a fashion show and is open to the public.
