Two for Two

In the last sprint event at the Beijing 2008 Olympics, LaShawn and the U.S. 400 meter relay team made the final their own, breaking an Olympic record, and winning gold.

The American squad of LaShawn, Jeremy Wariner, Angelo Taylor and David Neville finished in 2:55.39, beating the old Olympic mark by .35 seconds. The U.S. finished 12 strides -- 2.64 seconds -- ahead of the second-place Bahamians.

US Track team coach Bubba Thornton spoke about the race to the Associated Press:

"I thought it was a great performance."
